Evansology 101 – Prepping your Brain

What are you thinking about before you start a session? If you want to create something better, think better.

  • I really like these, it gives you a good snippet to really think about and try. I love when you do your photovision appearances, I always get great stuff from them, but I like the shorter format, again it helps to really focus on changing and trying things one idea at a time. Thanks again!

  • Hello Rod!

Looks like you’re off to a great start!
One thing I would recommend (as my day job is in the video world), would be to invest in a nice wireless lavalier microphone. It will increase your production value immensely and also make it sound SO much better.

  • I like the idea of putting small videos up for us to learn from. I had trouble hearing the audio on the ones I watched.

  • I like the format and the range of topics, ie. the balance of creative and business focus.

We all struggle with the advice to distinguish yourself from the competition (the creative challenges) and then survive in business, try to sell better, etc. It takes a broad sampling of skill sets and we photographers do not usually possess balanced strengths across the board, so quick snippets are a good idea to help iearn and then apply.

I agree that you really need to improve audio quality.

  • I too like the idea of short snippets of information. I know I spend way too much time in front of my computer so when I can get info easily and quickly I am more apt to check in more frequently. My question to you is how much do you plan on charging for this service? Is it going to be a one time member fee or monthly charge, Will the photographer be able to go back to the archives to listen to older posts? I guess I am a bit burned out by other photographers selling the same idea repackaged. I would look for real practical information that could be put to immediate use. Inspirational messages peppered in are useful but the bulk of the learning should be practical. For instance, effective marketing using social media. Good pricing strategies, especially in today’s economy I find people are cutting back, we need to get clients investing in photography. I am offering my clients payment plans so they won’t cut down their order. More info like this would be appreciated.

  • I like the short format….it could be a little longer. I like the candidness (sp?) of your presentation. It makes me feel like I’m sitting right down with you and am a friend hearing some advice.

Your voice is a bit difficult to hear. The echos are somewhat distracting.

I’m curious how you will be charging as well. But love the idea! Thanks for experimenting with this!

  • Rod,
I really enjoy watching the short video clips, sure the sound could be better… but whatever.. i am just glad that you took the initiative. Keep them comming and i am sure everyone can learn a little something about lighting, business, marketing and just about enjoying what we all do… Create

  • Charlie….yah…I am using the flip so i can get content out quickly, my real tutorials have real mics two cameras but the production time is insane, I respect your job..cause I get the amount of work..
I might switch to my real video camera and mics for these in the future if it still quick.. no editting etc..save that for the big real videos.
    Thank you for the link!
