Evansology 107 – Crap Happens

Well at least equipment failure and failures that force you to problem solve.

  • I would differ a little bit on the reason but have similar reaction. Proverbs 23 (or 24 I’m not for sure) tells us not to let setbacks get us down. Failure builds charater if we approach it with the right attitude. Looking at alternative ways to get the job done is a great way to look at it. If we approach it with a negative attitude when things go wrong, what reaction are we going to have when things get really tough.

  • This is so true! I have had equipment break or not work right on projects and have had to come up with new ideas. Great encouragement!

  • Rod,

Hope this helps. I am, besides being a photographer, a creative director.

When viewing – and listening to – your video clips, I am reminded of times talking to my wife on her cell phone while she is in our bathroom. Very echoy-ish and hard to understand. You need better audio control plus your lighting on the “Failure” clip is contrasty to the point your forehead shines. (you don’t want that). Most important, you could loose your audience.

Your message is ok but it seems you’re pushing yourself to hard to make the point, albeit a good point on the road to success.

  • Jim,

Thank you for your feedback much appreciated..my tutorial videos are professionally mic’d and shot..this is just a quicky information with a flip..maybe I will change to the procam..for these..
not a bad idea..I just wanted to get information out quickly..and easy to stay current..

  • Phil..you are so right!!!

  • These clips are failures: Bad sound; bad lighting; Looks like HD where HD is not required bringing bandwidth/compression problems.

I’ll try the next, but my ADHD is kicking in. :-)

  • I will reupload with better quality..sorry..

  • I personally use the word mistakes, but I understand your concept…smile It is how I continue to grow, you may want to do something about your sound quality…smile

  • rod! fun video and love your attitude!
i think showing these little “quickies” is fun and we understand that your actual tutorials will be professional and perfect!
the quirkiness of the quickies fits your personality and are great!

  • thanks Lori!

  • I like the quick videos. I don’t have a lot of time, and these quick little snapshots give me information to ponder and think of how I can utilize it into my next shoot or how to better build my business.

  • I am thrilled you are doing these videos. Great information, tips and lessons learned from experience. I am fairly new to the biz and so appreciate great photographers like yourself sharing bits like this, it is reassuring and encouraging. So thank you. You are doing a great job sharing your knowledge.

  • Hi Rod. I would love to see you in action with the hot lights you mentioned. I personally have never used them but have always been interested in trying them and would love to see how you light with them.

LOVING Rod TV! Brilliant! ….and loving that it’s FREE! LOL
