Thanks Rod! Good point! I would definitely add that spending a ton of money isn’t very smart either. I got my first set of 4 lights a few weeks ago for less than you’d pay for one light. Take a look at the old Photogenic Flashmaster line. It’s not the greatest thing out there but it works. There are lots of accessories for them and if you know how to control the light you can make some amazing pictures with them. I just had my first shoot with them and although I am still very new to studio lighting and I am learning as I go, I was quite pleased with the results. Check them out on my site.
Thanks, Rod! I’ve been browsing a ton since we talked about it the first time, and it’s just confusing. It helps a lot to just step back and think about the results you want, and then focusing on getting that look. You’ve been a huge help.
Great message to folks. When I got my lights I went with Alien Bees… great lights at a great price, I love them. But as is talked about in the video, you need to understand what/how you want the image to look, then figure out how to set up your lights for that.
